HAND – Hertfordshire Additional Needs Database. If your child has additional needs then you can register on the HAND database. HAND offers a newsletter each term, some concessions on leisure faciltities, parent/carer forums, an opportunity to influence planning of future services. Free to join.
Parent Partnership. Offers confidential helplines if you would like to talk about your child’s special needs. Can give impartial information and guidance on special educational needs to parents, carers and professionals. Try to help if there is a disagreement with the school or local authority about the way a child’s needs are being met.
Herts Parent Carer Involvement. Working with education, health and social care to improve services.
Kids Hub. Based in Hertford and Watford. Provide an information and support service to parents and carers of disabled children and young people across Hertfordshire. Telephone 01992 504013 for Hertford and 01923 676549 for Watford.
Youth Connexions. Provides a free service offering information, advice, guidance and support to all 13-19 year old (up to 25 for young people with learning difficulties and/or Disabilities).
CHATSS. An informal, friendly group supporting parents of babies, toddlers and school age children with additional and special needs both in mainstream and special schools. Sharing information and exchanging ideas. Raising awareness of the needs of children and families.
North Herts’ Football Facility. Hold football sessions on Mondays for any adult or child with a disability or special education need who is able to walk, with opportunities also to play in one of the Hitchin Town Ability Counts football teams. Call 01462 720088.
